The Long Pond Distillery is one of the most historic and important distilleries and sugar refineries in Jamaica, founded in 1753 in the Trelawny area and closed between 2012 and 2017 for renovation, the real strength of Long Pond was to continue to produce rum strictly following the recipes of the acquired distillery, continuing to mark the productions with the initials of recognition called 'marks', according to the ancient tradition of Jamaican distillers.
Marcs such as VRW or STC ^ E respectively identify the style of the Vale Royale Wedderburn and Simon Thompson Cambridge Estate distilleries, extinct respectively in 1952 and 1947, but not all marks have been clearly deciphered, the Long Pond distillery has never bottled the rum produced but has always sold the barrels to international merchants and bottlers, where however the Italian importer Luca Gargano, director of the Velier distribution company, bought several barrels stored in the distillery before it closed in 2012, thus creating the first official bottling of rum produced by Long Pond and aged entirely in the distillery, in the tropical climate of Jamaica.
