Herradura Distillery was founded in 1861 by Feliciano Romo in Amatitàn, a town located about 10 kilometers from the city of Tequila in the state of Jalisco. Legend has it that while Feliciano Romo was looking for the ideal place to build the distillery, he found a horseshoe, always considered a lucky charm, so he decided that this would be the ideal location for his business.
Herradura wholly owns all of the agave plantations from which their tequila is produced. Furthermore, Herradura ferments, distills, ages and bottles the entire range, without the addition of additives, colorings or sweeteners. Herradura was the first company that, in 1974, began producing reposado, tequila aged for 11 months, while their production dates back to 1962. first production of añejo tequila, aged for two years in oak barrels
