DISTILLATION AND REFINING The Whiskey Quarter Cask comes from the choice of barley and brackish peat that gives the finished product an unmistakable aroma, after about 6 years of maturation it is transferred to a smaller barrel that allows a more decisive interaction by the wood, while the Quarter Cask is a 125 liter oak barrel, much smaller than the more common Scottish aging barrel, called Hogshead, of 250 liters, after 8 years you get the characteristics of a 10 year but with a higher alcohol volume
